Newchild is pleased to announce its inaugural participation in The Armory Show, one of the leading international art fairs, taking place from Thursday, September 4 through Sunday, September 7 at the Javits Center, New York City.
The gallery will be presenting at Booth P48 in the fair’s Presents section, dedicated to young and emerging galleries.
For its debut, Newchild unveils “The Fading Pastoral,” a compelling duo exhibition featuring new works by acclaimed artists Madeleine Bialke and James Owens.
The presentation engages the tradition of landscape painting as both cultural artifact and conceptual inquiry, offering a profound reflection on ecological precarity and psychological unease in the contemporary world.

Through luminous color palettes, haunting imagery, and myth-infused symbolism, Bialke and Owens explore a contemporary form of pastoralism—one that does not idealize a return to nature but instead meditates on its disappearance, fragility, and transformation.
Their respective practices intertwine memory, environment, and imagination to suggest landscapes that are both familiar and otherworldly—spaces in transition and tension. “The Fading Pastoral” offers a dialogue between two distinct yet resonant voices, whose work probes the emotional and existential dimensions of environmental change.

This thought-provoking exhibition marks a significant moment in Newchild’s program, highlighting the gallery’s commitment to supporting timely and conceptually rigorous practices.
All collectible design pieces featured within the booth are presented courtesy of Dobrinka Salzman. For entry tickets to the fair or to request a full preview of the booth, please contact the gallery directly. Further details can be found at www.newchildgallery.com
