From February 5th to March 10th, Bidi Gallery presents the trio exhibition "The Running Breath of the Red Horse, and a Splendid Leap," featuring artists Kim Suk-young, Park Ki-hoon, and Son Jin-hyung.

This exhibition encapsulates an artistic exploration aimed at rediscovering the essence and value of life—often forgotten in the rapidly changing modern society—while restoring the organic relationship with the world that surrounds us.

The diverse pictorial languages projected onto the canvases three-dimensionally illuminate not only the order of the ecosystem but also the human free will flowing within it.

Some works awaken stagnant consciousness with unstoppable energy, while others utilize meticulously layered strata of time to reflect on a point of coexistence where artificial cities and nature must reconcile.

Furthermore, these imaginative forms that blur the boundaries of reality deliver both an instinctive vitality for life and a warm sense of comfort to weary modern individuals.

Kim Suk-young’s paintings resemble the sublime cyclical structure of nature, where a tree that has weathered wind and rain bears fruit and blossoms with new life once more.

The artist takes the process of circulation—codifying the perceived world into his own language and then expanding it back toward the world—as the foundation of his work.

The uncalculated, random brushwork seen in the "Phoenix Series" is a source of vibrant energy pulled from a sea of unconsciousness and chance; the dissonance created when different images or cultures meet becomes a passionate homage to the human spirit challenging an infinite world.

Additionally, through the "Don Quixote Series," the artist unreservedly reveals the destiny of artists who wish to charge toward their dreams, breaking away from given reality.

By leaving only the minimal image of the subject with intense colors and rough touches, he visualizes the human free will that strikes down old notions and idols.

Thus, the artist awakens our inner vitality through a pictorial journey that smashes the frames of fixed consciousness and struggles toward freedom.

Park Ki-hoon explores the true value of "coexistence (共存)" in modern society through landscapes where artificial cities and nature harmonize. The artist hopes that reflection on endangered species will permeate our lives as a natural part of existence rather than mere passing interest, projecting into his frames—where animals and cities intersect—the fact that our ecological partners are never far away.

His working method is both original and performative.

By layering paints to which he has personally added stone components and then precisely carving them away, he vividly reveals the artist’s physical traces and the layers of time.

This delicate yet concrete depiction serves as a communication tool that moves beyond abstract concepts to clearly deliver the artist's intent to the audience.

The artist easily unfolds the communication between animals and humans, and between artist and viewer, maintaining a sincere stance toward protecting our surrounding ecosystem.

Through the medium of painting, he provides a space for contemplation where one can reflect on the meaning of ecological coexistence and, furthermore, an attitude of mutual respect among humans.

Son Jin-hyung sets out to find the warmth of life and essential biological energy lost within a cold material civilization turning monochromatic.

The final destination of the artist's artistic journey is "Life" itself, which is materialized through deep communion and love with the being of the horse.

Taking Henri Bergson’s "élan vital (living leap)" as a motif, the artist delivers a pure and instinctive confession of life through the form of the horse, where dynamic movement and quiet staring coexist.

In particular, this exploration expands into a modern interpretation of the "Qilin," a divine beast in Eastern mythology, offering gentle comfort to the weary as a symbol of peace and transcendence, inviting them to pause and catch their breath.

The screen, crafted with deep colors and intuitive brushwork, moves softly between reality and myth to reveal an unrefined elegance.

Through the silhouette of the moment where matter and divinity cross, the artist unfolds a space of imagination within daily life, allowing viewers to face the brilliant textures of emotion flowing within their own hearts.
