Newchild is delighted to announce the grand opening of Unmade, a compelling group exhibition featuring the evocative works of Romina Bassu, Dustin Emory, Xi’an Kim, and Brittney Leeanne Williams.
The gallery team warmly invites the public to attend the opening reception today, February 6th, from 18:00 to 21:00, to experience this curated exploration of the domestic sphere.
This exhibition delves into how the familiar spaces of the home can transform into the uncanny, not through grand spectacle but through the subtle power of what is withheld, repeated, or left unresolved.
Unmade is deeply concerned with the psychological layers that surface when the traditional mechanisms of comfort fail, revealing the abject folded into soft furnishings and emotional fractures hidden behind rigid architectural forms.
The artists in this showcase explore how memories become embedded in the most ordinary of objects, suggesting that the uncanny is not inherently monstrous but rather a quiet displacement.
Visitors will find that the unsettling nature of these works arises from the subtle—a cup left overturned, a gesture mirrored without an obvious origin, or the eerie suggestion of a voice arriving from an empty room.

This immersive investigation of the domestic uncanny will remain on view at Newchild from its opening today through March 19, 2026.
For those wishing to visit, Newchild maintains regular opening hours from Wednesday to Saturday between 13:00 and 18:00.
Additionally, the gallery offers the flexibility of private viewings from Sunday to Tuesday, which are available to guests by prior appointment.
