artist Park Jinhee’s solo exhibition, which opened on the 18th, is on view at Insa Art Center (B1, 41-1 Insadong-gil) through January 5 of next year. Everyone lives while wavering at a threshold.

The moment light reaches us, shadows also begin to tremble; within the narrow interval between emergence and disappearance, emotions quiver subtly, leaving behind faint traces.

Titled So Faint and Yet So Deep, the exhibition summons these invisible layers of time and life through the delicate vibrations of thread, wind, and fine copper mesh. The voices of the artist’s mother—who lived through war and the April 3 Jeju uprising—along with those of elderly residents from coastal villages, the wrinkles of their hands, the long years of care labor, and memories once on the verge of fading are revived as living landscapes.

Materials such as gold thread, copper thread, seawater, and copper netting serve as sensory conduits for the accumulated time and memories that sustained the lives of these women.

Rather than reproducing objects, the works focus on revealing the imprints of lived experience and duration embedded within them.

Burial shrouds are reborn as winged garments; the voices of grandmothers slowly seep into blue traces of seawater; dreams stitched in thread become collective gestures that continue to unfold.

This exhibition visualizes the voices of lives concealed within the collective pronoun “we,” and renders visible the forgotten time of care that has long remained unseen.

At the same time, it resonates with how these histories of devotion extend beyond individual voices, expanding into communal memory and leaving their marks upon the world. In doing so, So Faint and Yet So Deep calls forth the moment when faded time regains its density, allowing long-enduring lives to be rewritten within the breath of the present.
