Newchild presents Mine Levende Råd, Danish artist Kristian Touborg's second solo exhibition in Belgium. Opening on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 18:00 to 21:00 with the artist in attendance, the exhibition runs through October 8, 2026.
Touborg epitomizes a new subjectivity in contemporary painting by pairing personal intimacy and playfulness with art historical references and advanced technologies.
His hybrid works balance physical, hand-processed materials with meditations on modern image ecology.
Defying simple medium classification, Touborg crafts two- and three-dimensional compositions using a combination of spontaneous oil brushstrokes, industrially treated textiles, and digitally printed surfaces, seamlessly assembled through complex collage techniques.
Demonstrating a deep engagement with new media, Touborg constructs imagined archaeological artifacts from a near-future society.

His practice takes a firm stand for analogue materiality within a world saturated with digital imagery.
Hovering between abstract figurative references and detailed portraiture, his paintings give voice to personal narratives where private memories and dreamlike sensations coalesce.
Born in Roskilde, Denmark, in 1987, Touborg holds an MA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and is a recipient of the Danish Arts Foundation working grant.
His work has been featured in recent exhibitions including Beside Itself at Gallery Vacancy in Shanghai, LIFE ANGST (LIVSANGST) at Museum Jorn in Silkeborg, and presentations with Newchild at Art Brussels and in Antwerp.
Touborg held his first institutional solo exhibition at Kunsthal Kongegaarden in 2022, and his work is held in permanent public collections including the HEART Herning Museum of Contemporary Art, Randers Kunstmuseum,
The Blake Byrne Collection, and the Danish Arts Foundation (Statens Kunstfond).
The artist currently lives and works in Copenhagen.
