Christopher Page is a painter of light, shadow, and reflection whose work explores the blurred boundaries between real and virtual space.
Known for his illusory depictions of framed paintings, mirrors, and windows, Page creates trompe l’oeil-style compositions on canvas as well as directly on architectural surfaces—walls, ceilings, and installations—that destabilize the viewer’s perception of space.
Though his works masquerade as glass, joinery, light, or shadow, they are not trompe l’oeil in the traditional sense. Relying on hard-edged color fields and optical precision, Page’s paintings hover between Baroque illusion and Modernist abstraction.
Recurring motifs—blank mirrors that reflect nothing, painted frames that contain only light or sky—raise questions about absence, perception, and where a painting begins or ends. Page's work is currently on view as part of Spectre, a group exhibition at the gallery, featuring works by fellow artists Liang Fu, Adriaan Marin, Viktor Mattsson, Sergio Miguel, and Justin Liam O’Brien.
